  CONCLUSION To conclude it can be said that the true essence of Goa lies in its -pristine natural beauty, exquisite culture and rich history. As a result, the state is able to draw a large number of travellers from India and the outside. The northern part of Goa is mostly famous amongst travellers for its virgin beaches.   POPULATION CHARACTERISTICS OF GOA  The state of Goa has a population of 14.59 lakhs, as per the 2011 census which when compared to the total 3,702 Sq. Km area of the state makes it as a state having medium density of population. The population density of Goa is 394 according to Goa census 2011. It is the smallest state in India in terms of area. The growth rate has drastically decreased since the previous census, which makes the state unique. The literacy has increased in both genders, but women have taken a lead.  Tourism has contributed to urbanization and therefore we find 60% of population in urban areas. In rural areas of Goa, the population growth rate is negative, which means the population is greatly decreasing. Gender ratio in rural areas, on the other hand shows a far more satisfactory picture.   INDUSTRIES IN GOA The state of Goa has 5,765 small-scale industrial units and around 16 industrial estates which have been established by the Goa Industrial Development Corporation. Medium scale industries include the manufacturing of pesticides, fertilisers, mining, tyres, tubes, footwear, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, wheat products, steel rolling, fruits and fish canning, cashew nuts, textiles and brewery products. Information Technology (IT) and ITES industry are extremely well suite to Goa owing to the industry's non-polluting nature.   MINERAL RESOURCES OF GOA  The state of Goa is richly endowed primarily with ferro-manganese mineral ores. Other than this Goa also has a deposit of Iron ore and Bauxite, though of relatively poor quality. The mining belt of Goa covers approximately 700 sq. km. and is divided into three regions based on the concentration of the iron ore: Northern, Central and Southern Zone. Usgao River is the dividing line for northern and central zone and Sanguem River between the central and southern zone. The maximum area under mining is in Sanguem Taluka followed by Bicholim, Sattari and Quepem. The iron ore deposits in northern parts are nch in quality and quantity as compared to the deposits in Central and Southern parts. The zon ore deposits in Goa are mainly hematite. SOILS AND AGRICULTURE IN GOA

  SOILS OF GOA The soil in Goa is categorized into three broad types:1) Lateritic 2) Alluvial and 3) Sandy.The major soil type is lateritic (81%). This soil is rich in iron and aluminium oxides and is reddish in colour. It has sandy loamy to silt- loam texture, well drained and highly acidic (5.5 to 6.5 pH). This soil has moderate organie carbon and is poor in potash About 11% of the soils located along the seacoast and estuaries is sandy-to-sandy loam This includes the Ker lands and beach fronts.The remaining 8% of the soil is alluvial and loamy in nature. nature.It is found inland along the river banks. CLIMATE AND NATURAL VEGETATION OF GOA

  Climate of goa Goa also experiences similar climate like other parts of the country but intensity of summer, winter and rainy season is little different. The average temperature of Goa varies between 20-35°C. Annual rainfall varies between 250 to 350 cms. Goa mainly has three seasons and they are rainy season from June to October. Winter season from November to February. Summer season from March to May. Rainy Season it begins with onset of south west monsoon winds. Monsoon generally reaches to Goa's coast in the first week of June. But last few years there is variations in arrival of monsoon either last week of May or second week of June. During south west monsoon winds, velocity of winds varies between 40 to 60 kms. per hour. The winds brings lot of moisture with clouds and clouds are noticed almost 50-60 mts. above the ground.   BEACHES OF GOA COLVA This is the most important beach in the South circuit, equipped with all modern amenities like air conditioned resort complexes, tourist cottages, discos, besides several stalls, eateries and guest houses—all of which have expanded the village enormously. With 20 kms of virgin white sands, palm fringed, sun drenched beaches, Colva is the most loved beach in  Goan. Unlike Anjuna or Calangute, Colva has gained popularity only lately.   INTRODUTION Goa , state of India, comprising  a mainland district on the country’s southwestern coast and an offshore island. It is located about 250 miles (400 km) south of Mumbai  (Bombay). One of India’s smallest states, it is bounded by the states of Maharashtra  on the north and Karnataka  on the east and south and by the Arabian sea  on the west. The capital is Panaji  (Panjim), on the north-central coast of the mainland district. Formerly a Portuguese possession, it became a part of India in 1962 and attained statehood in 1987.
